Coffee Break, Phratamnak Hill, Pattaya, Thailand.

Ok this is somewhere to have a coffee or a cold drink. Well worth a trip to actually see such a magnificent view of the Pattaya Beach front along, well, Pattaya Beach Road!  Always popular and it can get crowded and the view can be obscured by Selfie Cameras! Coffee Break is up a one way road that loops round to the right and back to the bottom. It is not the real Yellow Brick Road but it is protected on both sides by some yellow rollers, so should you have a brake failure at the top it will operate like a toboggan run and funnel you to the bottom […]

The Dark Side of Pattaya! Thailand.

Ok this is scary stuff. We probably need help over here! USE THE FORCE LUKE….well no, I live there ( mostly!) and don’t really need help, well no more than I usually do. This could be a Newspaper Headline from just about any and every newspaper scare story over the years! Just reading it is enough to make sure you never go there. Come on now, there must be more villains there in the Dark Side of Pattaya than in Gotham City during Batman’s Vacation week. The Dark Side of Pattaya is actually just the East side of Pattaya across the Sukhumvit Road and is really a nice place, nothing […]

The Tree House, Pattaya, Thailand.

The Tree House is a quiet place to go for some grub or a coffee and cake. Or even both! Pleasant clean and inexpensive! Nicely decorated inside and a nice garden outside which is worth a wander round with a childrens play area and swings. Food is a gentle mixture of Thai and Farang including snacks and a showcase of assorted cakes to choose from. Staff are always helpful and polite and in abundance! Oh did I mention Bingsu? This is a Korean dessert which is made from Shaved Ice and sounds at first a bit of a non starter but in fact is, surprisingly, really good and worth a […]

Aroi Restaurant, Pattaya, Thailand.

This is a very nice Pub and Restaurant and it has a Continental flavour. Ok it is actually a Continental Restaurant. They have been around here a while now but they have just moved about 400 metres further up the road (away from the Sukhumvit ) and round the corner on the left. Easy to follow signs are there to help find the new location, but it is on the road opposite the new CJ Supermarket. I always thought the old place was a bit oversize, but maybe that was just because of the long and narrow layout. The new place is a little smaller but it is not small […]

Bake n’ Brew, Coffee Cakes n’ Breakfast, Soi Excite, Pattaya City, Thailand.

A great place to get a good Breakfast and good Coffee. Plenty of choices and consistently good quality. Just stop by for a coffee and a cake there is a good range in a glass cabinet to tempt your palate. Easy access because Bake n’ Brew is situated between Third Road and Soi Buakhao. One of my favourite things is the “Bread Buffet” which is included with the main breakfast sets. A good selection of Bread with a Toaster, Butter, Jam and Marmalade! Ok there are times when you grab a slice and its a bit dry but that’s because customers can’t be asked to keep the slices together and […]

Front of Time Out Bistro

Time Out Bistro Coffee, Pattaya, Thailand.

A very nice little Continental Bistro, Cafe, Deli and Bakery. This is a very multi-functional place. Hot or cold food, Cakes, Coffee, Beer, Wine or Spirits as a Cafe. Bread, Cheese, Cooked Meats, Cakes, Bottles of Wine or a Coffee Machine and Coffee pods as a Bakery/Deli. Food is always good and I usually have a breakfast which comes with a juice and a nice coffee. Sometimes something a little smaller or just different, chosen from the bi-lingual menu. Being on open fronted Cafe there is, of course, always a chance of someone with a fag on, but the two innermost tables have a no smoking sign which is always […]

Naklua Fish Market, Naklua, Pattaya, Thailand.

Naklua Fish Market, Naklua, Pattaya, Thailand. Like Fish and Chips do we?? Well just forget about that. No sign of Cod and Chips here. This market is a veritable visual cacophony of seafood. I have no idea what a lot of them are, but there are a few I seem to recognise. Squid, Octopus, Small Prawns, Wowthatsbig Prawns, Crabs, Mussels, Pink fish, Silver Fish, Small Silver Fish, Scallops, Horseshoe Crabs, Oysters, Cockles As well as the fresh fish there is the usual dried Squid, and stalls of assorted Vegetables. If you want to take some up (or down) country you can buy a polystyrene box and fill it with Seafood […]

Surf Kitchen, Beach Road, Jomtien, Pattaya.

Surf Kitchen is a pleasant beach front Restaurant. Sat right on the edge of Beach Road it is at the end of Soi 5 if you are coming from Immigration (which is the opposite end) and are in need of some sustainance. Lets face it after a trip there everyone needs at least a cuppa! This is a very popular place and usually plenty of customers, probably because of its inexpensive prices and prime location. Food has always been good and one of my favourite parts is the No Smoking Section. Always a bone of contention for me when sitting outside so I think this is a great idea, it […]

Mini Bar, Soi Khao Talo, Pattaya, Thailand.

This is not just another open fronted single unit bar. Situated on the left going up Soi Khao Noi, opposite the market on the right. This is a very friendly and welcoming place to pop into. A place to drop in with your wife or girlfriend. Very much a meeting place for some of the local community as well as passers by who are either expats or tourists staying nearby. Inside is a pool table with seating at the front and rear. Out front there are tables and chairs one side and a bar with bar stools the other. There is a Quiz Night on every second Wednesday Evening and […]

The Chilled, Soi Khao Noi, Pattaya, Thailand

This is a mini Shopping Mall. Located on busy Soi Khao Noi it is a recent and welcome addition for the “Dark Side” of Pattaya. There is ample parking at the front, the side and underneath.  Once inside, the biggest shop is a well stocked Tops Supermarket (who are linked with Waitrose). Plenty of imported foodstuffs on the shelves. Tops also have an integral cafe where they have a good range of nice food, cooked to order in an open kitchen. There have some bar style seating along the front window, so you can eat or have coffee watching the world go by!  For a healthy option they have a […]
